After a rare off day in the field, the Paarl Royals return to Boland Park with the aim of putting the loss behind when they take on MI Cape Town for the second time in three days on Sunday.

At Centurion, the Royals started strongly after being put in to bat first. Openers Jason Roy and Jos Buttler went berserk in the Powerplay, attacking the bowlers in full throttle. Their 62-run partnership for the first wicket set the tone for a huge total on the board. But then came a flurry of wickets, and the visitors were pegged a bit on the back foot. The middle order put up some resistance and got the team to a competitive total of 172. However, the second innings saw the game being taken away by the MICT batters as they charged to an 8-wicket victory.

Match Details

Match 14: Paarl Royals vs MI Cape Town
Where: Boland Park, Paarl
When: January 21 2024
What time: 7 PM IST (3:30 PM Local)

The Royals enjoy playing at their home ground, having won all their matches here so far. They have adapted well to the conditions and the typically slowish wickets on offer. Anything above 150 is a par score for Boland Park, given how progressively tricky the pitch becomes for batting. MI Cape Town have won the only game they've played here in SA20, so their inexperience going up against the Royals' familiarity will become an interesting battle in itself.

Team News

For the fourth match in a row, the Royals have stuck with the same Playing XI, having shown full faith in those who have been picked. It is a well-balanced unit with the right mix of youth and experience across all three departments. Whether a blip in the result will warrant a change or two remains to be seen. However, the focus is likely to be on strengthening the fielding aspect, given the hurt caused by the dropped catches in the last game.
