~ With the larger vision of uplifting and enabling the Boland region, the franchise has joined hands with Social Investment organisation Valcare to support two programmes aimed at empowering women in the community ~
SA20 franchise Paarl Royals today announced that the franchise has joined hands with Valcare, a Social Investment organisation, to support two of their on-ground projects in the Paarl region.
The two projects are named Elevation and Take A Step respectively, and support women in the community by upskilling and mentoring them to be job-ready, retain professional positions and establish their own businesses.
As part of the Elevation Programme, marginalised women without a current source of livelihood are trained to develop various skills, and then mentored to find the right job opportunities.
Meanwhile, Take a Step is a special programme designed in 2022 with the aim of enabling empowered women by helping them establish small businesses prioritising profit and purpose. The programme strives to create a generation of socially aware entrepreneurs to empower and encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs. It is designed to generate a culture of entrepreneurship and guide women in creating sustainable businesses.
Speaking on the collaboration and extension of support to the Paarl community, Alok Chitre, Chief Business Officer, Paarl Royals said, “As a franchise group, we have always worked with the vision of impacting society through cricket as a vehicle, and we are delighted that we are able to extend that impact in our home region of Paarl. Through this initiative in association with Valcare, we are hoping to support the larger community in the region with emphasis on upskilling and mentoring women to be professionally engaged and create sustainable businesses for themselves.”
It is to be noted, Paarl Royals’ sister franchise in the IPL, Rajasthan Royals also supports causes related to enabling empowered women in the community through their philanthropic arm, the Royal Rajasthan Foundation.
